Majority of employers and all higher educational establishments such as Universities require maths and English GCSE or GCSE equivalent qualifications. GCSE equivalents have increased since they are required for most courses and jobs.
Functional skills and GCSE equivalency tests are both GCSE equivalent qualifications and they are the most popular even though there are others such as NVQs and BTECs. Functional skills is a GCSE equivalent qualification once you get to level 2, there are 5 levels. The levels are entry level 1, entry level 2, entry level 3, level 1 and level 2. You can get funding by the government and take the functional skills course in college if you fit their criteria, first being you have to be 19 or younger. If you are older, so don’t fit their criteria, you won’t get any funding from the government and you have to sign up for the exam as an independent learner. GCSE equivalency tests offer exams in the three main subjects (science, maths and English). This qualification is best for people who are applying for teacher trading courses. If you would like more information about any GCSE equivalent exams, contact MME.
You can still take a GCSE exam if you would prefer that qualification over GCSE equivalents since it is the gold standard but they aren’t as flexible since you can’t take the exam whenever, there are two times during the year. Functional skills is the most popular out of all of the GCSE equivalents qualifications and they are convenient since you can take the exam online in your home comforts or at a testing centre. MME can book the online functional skills exam for you or if you would rather sit the paper in a testing centre, then MME can sort that out for you.
