Only schools can play an active role in this, so parents cannot enrol their children; they must do so through their subject teachers. MME is currently offering NTP tutoring for maths, English, and science to GCSE students, but this may be expanded in the coming weeks and months. What exactly is the National Tutoring Program?
NTP is a government initiative that assists schools in obtaining tuition funding in order to improve learning outcomes. It was initially implemented to assist children in catching up after the effects of the pandemic, but it has since been expanded due to the recognition of how impactful tuition can be.
How does the NTP funding operate?
Each school receives £162 per pupil allowed to register for Pupil Premium funding. As part of the NTP, this can be spent by any student. The funding is distributed three times a year, in September, December, and April. Schools can claim 60% of tuition costs up to £18 per hour per student.
Is the NTP tuition delivered online or in person, and is it done in groups?
There are numerous options available, ranging from one-on-one tuition to online group lessons. In-person 1-2-1 tuition is usually far more costly than group sessions.
